My Botox Treatment

Well today was my first Botox treatment. It was an early appointment and I was glad I got it out of the way this morning. The Botox treatment for migraines is where you get 31 shots in your shoulders, neck, back of the head, and face. The lady I see brought in three needles and stuck in different spots. She started in the shoulders. It was very painful, especially in the face. I have smallish bruises where she had to pinch in my forehead. So I am hoping that this will work with me. I’m very optimistic. My next treatment will be in three months and so I’ve got some waiting time ahead. Well, I will update you soon. Have a good night.

It’s been a long time

Hello everyone,

I usually don’t stay away from my blogs this long, however, I have had a serious bout of depression and I just haven’t had interested in updating. Over the past month I have gained weight and my headaches have returned. I have had to use ice packs again. However, my depression is keeping me weighed down and I just don’t seem to want to do anything that I have wanted to do in the past. On the upside, I saw my headache specialist and she got me approved for botox shots. So I am calling tomorrow for an appointment for the botox shots for my migraines.

Today, I visited both a psychiatrist and a social therapist. The psychiatrist has upped my dose on my depression medicine to help with energy. I am seeing the social therapist again within two weeks. Hopefully, something will come of it. Lately, I just can’t help but feel sad and depressed. I’m just trying to deal with it everyday and it is very hard to do.

I’m sorry for the long update. I will talk soon.

What doesn’t set off a migraine?

So I ended up going to the E.R. on Saturday. They ended up giving me I.V. fluids and a strong medicine for nausea which pretty much kicked it out, but I am still having some pain. Not as much thank goodness. The hospital did send me home with some information on what might set off a migraine. Some of the foods include: chocolate, yogurt, cheese (especially aged). What the hell man? I’ve been eating chocolate yogurt from Yoplait, so I guess that will have to be stopped for a while. Ya’ll aren’t going to stop me from eating cheese, but I do need to reduce my intake. I just wonder, what doesn’t set off a migraine? Goodness. Maybe I caused it. I was doing so good before it came on. The daiths were working, and still are. This is crazy. Gotta do some research.

What a damned migraine

I haven’t been active. This is mainly because there has been a lot going on in my life. Outside and inside factors, if you get my meaning. Well last Saturday was my birthday. I’m 35 now. Sunday, I woke up with a very bad headache. Bad enough that I had to put an ice pack on. This headache, or migraine, as I think it is, has not gone away since then. I have tried a variety of medicines and my doctor sent me in a new one and even that hasn’t worked. So I’m teetering on the edge of whether to go to the E.R. I’m going to give it one more night. I mean it’s been going on since Sunday! I have my limits you know! I just don’t know what to do about this monster. We’ll see.

Bad day for a migraine

Hello everyone,

Today was a bad day for me. I didn’t go to sleep till about 2:30 in the morning and I kept waking up. I woke up about 9:00 am and asked my parents if they would take me to the E.R. I had been having a really bad headache for about three days now and I had exhausted everything. I had taken all the prescribed medicines and I just couldn’t take it anymore. My father was working on his quilting and got angry at me. I was going to try an ice pack since he was angry, but we ended up going and on the way he told me that I had wasted $120 dollars on the daith piercings. I was very upset that I had to hold in my tears on the way there. We didn’t talk to each other and he was speeding because he was angry. I was immediately seen when I got to the E.R. I think this was in part because today the W.V.U. Mountaineers were playing Texas Tech and they were at Morgantown. Anyway, I was seen and they gave me some meds and even though I was in pain after a while of being there I told them I felt better when they asked if I was so I could get out of there. My dad did apologize to me, but I was very upset. What people should understand is that people with migraines and other painful illnesses don’t want to go to the E.R. or hospitals. They don’t want to be burdens on family members. At least I don’t. Sometimes I wish that I was never born. That way it would have been easier for my parents. I can’t help having these illnesses or feeling the way I do when I have a migraine. I try to cope for as long as I can. I just hope that there are those out there that understand too.

How’s the Daith?

Hey everyone,

Well I thought I would let you know how I’m doing on my Daith piercing. Yesterday I had my Daith piercing done. You can check out a picture of it on my instagram link at the bottom of the page. So far it is doing good. I only took one pill this morning for pain. I haven’t seemed to have any pain so far. I’m not going to go and say I’m cured yet. It’s still too early to tell. So I am going to wait it out and just see how it does. I had it done on my right side, which is my dominant side, and I keep forgetting that I brush up against my ear and it hurts when I do that. Other than when I brush up against the ear, it doesn’t hurt at all. I’ll keep you updated. Talk soon and have a good night.

Headaches are a fight

Hey everyone,

Headaches are a constant pain for me. This morning I woke up and it just came on for me. It was like my nerves were rebelling because I visited the headache specialist yesterday. They were saying ‘we’re going to cause you pain because you’re going to try to get rid of it!’ So I took some of my prescribed medicine and later slept with an ice pack. I only sleep with an ice pack when I am in extreme pain. I recommend them if you have bad headaches and migraines. They can help. I have two, plus a cover for my eyes that I use. I put them in the freezer and it helps tremendously. However, the ice pack today didn’t do anything to calm down the headache. So I ended up taking one of my dad’s Tylenol 3 pills. That pretty much wipes it out for a good while. I don’t recommend you take other peoples pills by the way, but my parents are retired nurses and they have given me a Tylenol 3 pill before for the pain.

Anyway, the headaches are still here and I have to fight them as usual. Tomorrow is another day and I hope that it is not going to be bad like today. Here’s hoping! Have a good night everyone!
