What a day for health

Well I can tell you that my day was busy as frigging heck. Today I had an endocrinologist appointment at 10:25 in the morning. I didn’t see her till about 11:20. We discussed a lot, especially the blood levels, creating a health binder to put my notes in, how I was feeling and things like that. So it was about 12:00 when we left and then I went to DQ with my dad and we got something to eat. I wanted to get home to lay back down, but tested my left side to see if it was still in pain and it was. So there and made my poor dad take me to the urgent care dentistry. This is where all the dental students work with their professors. It took and hour and a half. I’m sure he was not happy, but by going to the urgent care dentistry, you cut your price in half. So I saw a student and a professor. Both were nice. The professor told me that my pain was stimulating through stress and my neck. The student also found one of my lymph nodes enlarged a bit. Both also flossed my back teeth where I was having pain and found food in it. I said, ‘Well that’s embarrassing,’ and the professor just laughed and was really nice and gave me really good advice. I’ve also got an appointment for initial consultation to see a someone to do a cleaning in August, which will be much cheaper option than regular dentists.

I also decided to delete my Weight Watchers account. I didn’t feel like it was helping and I was wasting money. I am going to reread the Paleo diet and see if it is the right diet for me. I am also going to do some soul-searching and really look deep inside of myself. Over-eating is a manifestation of something else. I have to find out what mine is. Anyway that’s my thoughts for now.

Start over

Hey everyone,

Well the last few days haven’t been to well. So tomorrow is a new start. I am still 279 lbs. Which is good. However, I am aiming to lose more weight this week. I am having the cheese cravings come back. Which is crazy. I thought this was coming under control. 😦 I’m learning that I just have to keep at it. So today I have to take stock of what I need to continue my journey on the Paleo Diet. Tomorrow, I will start with the smoothie again. I’m hoping this week I will make the pierogis that I have been wanting to make. I just haven’t been able to. I’m not giving up. I’m getting back to it. Well that’s it for now. Talk soon.

Been cheating

Hello everyone,

So yesterday and today I have been cheating, but in part I think it is good also. Yesterday we got pizza and I had stomach trouble. Today, I also pigged out on some pizza and had a hot dog and a pretzel from Sam’s Club. However, I got some pistachios, apples, grapes, and V8 juice from Sam’s Club to help me get back on track. Tomorrow I go back on the plan. I think it is good because I am learning that I don’t want the carbohydrates as much as I thought that I did. I open the refrigerator and the cheese door is in front of me. I really do not have as much trouble bypassing it as on day one. It’s going to be nice treating myself every once in a while, don’t be wrong, but I am not going to eat cheese like a maniac. I’m learning restraint. I feel proud in that way. There are still things I need to work on, but everyone does. We’re not perfect, I’m definitely not. However, I’m getting to understand my body a bit better. I’ll update soon and hopefully with better news.

Small successes

Hello everyone,

So far this week has had its struggles, but also some successes as well. Last week I checked my weight before I started. I was almost 284 pounds. This was not good. I want to get down to 180 lbs. I should probably be a bit lower, but 180 is a good point to reach for now. So I checked my weight today and I am 280. It could be in part to water weight, but I have been resisting cheese (my major temptation), bread (not missing it as much), grains, and pasta. So I feel really proud so far.

So I am struggling still with the cheese craving. However, I don’t look at the cheese drawer as much. I don’t have to get up and leave the room because of cravings. I’m sure I will have some, but I think they will fade away with time. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will introduce some cheese back in and see if it causes me problems. We’ll see.

So that’s my update for now. I will talk soon.

Another okay day

Hello everyone,

Today was another okay day. I can say I am taking the Paleo Diet in steps. I have not had any cheese today! I am mastering my craving over it. My mom made grilled provolone cheese sandwiches today (some of my favorite) and I said NO! Well I didn’t scream it, but I definitely denied it. 🙂 So I had another early morning. I had about 4 oz of pistachios this morning and two hard-boiled eggs. My smoothie consisted of frozen blueberries, mangoes, raspberries, and blackberries with almond milk. Note: wait till the fruit is a little defrosted before you blend. I had such a hard time blending and my parents are upstairs. Even though my dad is deaf in one ear, I still don’t like to make a lot of noise. Anyway, I had half of a smoothie and later in the morning I had the rest. For lunch I had one apple, then spent the afternoon boiling more eggs and cutting up celery to eat along with my apples. Tomorrow, I plan to eat tuna for lunch. Because I didn’t eat a lot for lunch, I cheated a bit and had some leftover cake from my nephew’s party. Though it was maybe 3-4 oz. Then for dinner I had a beef and veggie soup with just 5 pieces of penne pasta. Later, I made some popcorn as a reward for my resisting cheese. I’m not having anymore till later in the week, probably this weekend. So this is a one-time weakness. Tomorrow will definitely be better and I think my cheese cravings will be better. Let’s hope. Well I will update soon.

An okay beginning

Hey everyone,

So I thought I would let you know how my first day on the Paleo Diet began. I didn’t sleep too well. I was up from about 11:00 pm till 4:00 this morning. During that time I had one Gala apple (sliced), about 2-3 oz of pistachios, and then a smoothie that I made. Because I filled up, I only drank about half of it. The smoothie contained frozen fruit (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, mangoes, and pineapples…I was using up what was left of different bags) and almond milk. Later on, I got up to get something for my headache. I was tempted to get some cheese, but instead of staying downstairs where the cheese was, I went upstairs to read.

Around 1:40 pm I left with my dad to go to my nephew’s birthday party. Unfortunately, I fell off the wagon. I tried a little bit of everything. I tried some sausage (sort of like pork in beans, but without the beans), it was too spicy and I gave it too my dad. I also tried a little bit of white chili, it was also spicy, but I ate it with a little cheese, chives, and parsley. I ate this baked cheese dip with parmesan crackers and that was my real weakness. I had two servings of that. There was cake of course, but we took that home and I ate it when I went home.

I’ve had one last snack today of two sliced apples. Tomorrow, I am going to do some more smoothie making for ahead of time and cut up some celery to get my veggies in. I do feel proud that I did resist the cheese calling at home. It’s going to be hard, but I’ll make it. Anyway, I’ll talk soon.

A new start

Hello everyone,

Sorry I have been gone for a few days. I have been feeling sick and still am feeling a little sick. One of the things that I promised myself for this year is to change my lifestyle, as I mentioned before. Part of our lifestyles are the way we eat. So I am going to participate in the Paleo Diet. I am starting my new lifestyle tomorrow. I have started prepping and it is going to be hard, but I am ready to start my change to a new and healthier lifestyle.

Will the change be hard? Very much so. If you don’t know much about The Paleo Diet go to: http://thepaleodiet.com/. This is author’s website and has recipes, the basic layout of the Diet, and much more. Basically, you eat a good amount of lean protein (poultry, beef, pork, veal, game, etc…), vegetables, fruits. Notice that I said lean protein, this is not a any protein diet. You can’t have proteins with fillers. We’re talking about the cheaply made stuff. On this diet you can’t have dairy, you can have eggs. What is going to be a problem for me is that I am a lover of cheese. So it’s going to be extremely hard to keep myself from the cheese. So I damn well will try. Also, no grains. Another weakness is pasta and bread. This is something else to over come. I know I can do it. It’s just going to be hard the first few weeks.

Well everyone, I will update soon. Have a good one!
